Institutions For Agricultural Development In Haryana

Haryana being an agricultural state, has separate departments dedicated to various phases of agriculture that undertake various developmental activities. They are discussed as follows:

Haryana Cooperative Agriculture and Village Development Bank

  • It was established on 1st November, 1966 under the Punjab Cooperative Association Act 1965.
  • In 1974, its name was changed to Haryana State Cooperative Land Development Bank Limited.
  • The bank provides long term loans to farmers. 90% of the finance of these loans is done by NABARD, 5% by Haryana State Government and 5% by Central Government.
  • Haryana State Cooperative Bank Limited (HARCO)

  • The bank was constituted on 1st November, 1966. It provides finance to farmers, marginal labourers and industrialists.
  • The bank has 13 branches and 2 extension boards in Chandigarh and Panchkula.

  • Bank also assists in giving financial aids.
  • Haryana State Cooperative and Marketing Federation (HAFED)

  • It was established on Ist November, 1966 main office is at Panchkula. Its objective is to provide clean and hygienic food production.
